Next meeting - Monday, April 28 7:30 pm
Speaker Dr. Brian Bergman
Brian is a dentist and gardener. He has grown and hybridized lilies for more than 20 years, and has been involved in the Ontario Regional Lily Society in a number of capacities, including past president. Lilycrest Gardens is his growing and hybridizing field in St. Catharines. He is in the process of introducing his lily hybrids commercially for garden growers.
Lilies - the Orchids of Perennials
Lily hybridization has exploded in the last 50 years - from only hundreds of varieties in the 1950's to more than fifteen thousand today. This is a visual tour of the most exciting hybrids of today and tomorrow, drawing on examples of past, present and future varieties. Acquiring and growing lilies takes a little knowledge - a brief overview of the classification of lilies and how to grow them is included.
