District 9 encompasses the Niagara peninsula from Grimsby to Niagara Falls. As well, it includes the Dunnville Horticultural Society located in Haldimand County. There are thirteen societies in the District.

In District 9, we garden in a variety of conditions ranging in Zones from 5 to 6. Some areas are quite sheltered and many exotic plants are grown here by adventurous gardeners.

We have two meetings per year, one being our AGM in the spring and the other the Fall Forum, usually held on the last Saturday in September. Both meetings have speakers and flower shows. Information and schedules are available under "Spring AGM and Fall Forum".  Additionally, we hold a Presidents' Meeting which this year will be in the afternoon of our fall meeting date.

District 9 also donated $400 to the Niagara Region Science and Engineering  Fair. Judging took place in  March 2018. An entire day was spent judging projects. The quality of these projects made it very hard to decide on winners. Awards are made at an awards ceremony. Of note, we have received thank you cards from all of the recipients who were chosen by District 9.

In 2018 our AGM was held on April 21 at Niagara on the Lake and was hosted by the Niagara on the Lake Horticultural Society. Our morning speaker was Joanne Young president of Niagara on the Lake Horticultural Society who who spoke on the benefits of working with nature to conserve our resources. Our afternoon speaker was Stacey Hickman of Natural Insect Control in Stevensville who shared her knowledge and enthusiasm about her chosen field of entymology.  This proved to be a fun day with lots of camaraderie and just plain fun!

In the Fall of 2018, District 9 will host a morning meeting on September 28 at Rockway Glenn Winery. Our speaker with be Darryl Bley from Niagara Parks. As well, Rose Odell, president of the Ontario Horticultural Association will make a visit to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Pelham Garden Club.

In the year that District 9 hosted Convention 2012, we sold over 1500 of the 1812 Rose.  It is a red rose and very disease resistant. Palatine Roses in Niagara on the Lake has been the grower for this rose. At this time, sales of the 1812 Rose have been completed. If you have any further questions about the rose, please contact Palatine Roses. There are a few of the roses left for sale. Palatine Roses can be contacted at this website. Palatine Roses. Many thanks to all who supported District 9 in the sale of the rose and especially to the rose committee, who devoted countless hours to the success of this fundraiser.
