THURSDAY, APRIL 8, 2010 – CARL (CK GREENHOUSES) – SECRETS OF SUCCESSFUL SEEDING
ST. THERESA CHURCH HALL, 1991 NORMAN ROAD, 7:30 P.M.
THANK YOU
A Big Thanks to all of you who brought in pictures and slides of your gardens for our January meeting...no one wanted to leave. Keep that in mind when taking pictures of your gardens throughout the year... whose garden will we be able to glimpse next January?
In February, Don Tellier, from St. Clair College had a fun presentation on Planning and Planting for all seasons.
Also a reminder that “Winter Blooms” is March 27th 8AM-4PM. Guest speaker will be Denis Flanagan on gardening trends.
And a Special Thank you to all the ladies who brought in baked goods and other treats for our break-time.
Maria Papp made a wonderful offer – a no fee workshop on planting and seeding. Thank You Maria... hope you had a good response.
FROM THE PRESIDENT
Spring is right around the corner and, like you all I am ready to get outside and get growing! I am excited as well, to be serving as your new president, and hope to get to know you all better. As you will see in this newsletter, the Board has planned a lot of new activities for our members. The March/April newsletter would not usually go out to members who have not paid their dues, but with the transition in the Board, it was decided to make an exception this year. Our membership year runs from 1 Jan. – 31 Dec.
· Jae Muzzin will be our featured speaker in March. The topic will be the Guerrilla Gardening Collective.
· Pat Bastien, will attend our March meeting as well to do a quick demo on how to enter your photos in the OHA Photo Competition at the Convention in August. The list of categories will be available there for those who didn’t receive it last fall.
· In April, Carl, of C & K Greenhouses will let us in on the secrets to successful seeding. His greenhouse is one of the nurseries on our District Discount List, and if you haven’t been to visit there, I would encourage you to do so.
There is always something new to tempt you. Great quality too. March will be a busy month with the Canada Blooms trip, and don’t forget Winter Blooms at St. Clair College.
Our District AGM is 17th of April, in Sarnia. For further information, please speak to myself or another board member.
Please wear your favourite green thing to our March meeting in honour of St. Paddy’s Day, and in April decorate and wear your favourite Easter Bonnet or Hat!!
Your questions, ideas, and suggestions are always welcome. Please don’t hesitate to approach myself or the other Board members. And remember... gardening is medicine that does not need a prescription, and with no limit on dosage.
