WEST CARLETON GARDEN CLUB

The West Carleton Garden Club meets on the second Tuesday of the month at the Carp Memorial Hall at 7:30 p.m

About the WEST CARLETON GARDEN CLUB

 The West Carleton Garden Club and Horticultural Society is one of over 285 societies in Ontario. It is affiliated with the Ontario Horticultural Association and organized under the authority of the Agricultural Organizations Act of Ontario. The goals of the society are to encourage interest and improvement in the practice of horticulture by: Organizing social events, including monthly meetings, to provide information and exchange ideas Encouraging the planting of trees, shrubs and flowers; Promoting beautification projects; Organizing horticultural exhibits, competitions and field trips; Distributing seeds, plants, bulbs and flowers among members; Distributing information and communicating with the public.

Overview of the club’s program

The CLUB’S program of monthly meetings is the primary means of achieving it’s objectives. Some of the recent inclusions have been: · Plant auction · Fall flower show · Members garden tour · “Gardening a 3-D Canvas” · The annual plant sale · “Beekeeping” · “Iris selection” · A trip to “Canada Blooms” in Toronto · “Companion gardening” · “Pruning trees and shrubs” · “Garden structures” · “Home greenhouses” · “Wildlife and pollinators” One of the most ambitious and successful projects has been the creation, implementation and care of the READING GARDEN at the Carp Public Library.
