“Beautification Through

Education and Experience

As you read this 2010 issue, you may notice that there’s not much new or different this year. Well that may be, but nonetheless, it’s going to be one terrific year for gardening enthusiasts. Whether you have been digging in soil for longer than you care to remember, or just starting to get your fingernails dirty, you’ll find this year’s plans to be very rewarding and entertaining.

To that end, we have booked a terrific line-up of speakers – top names that you normally associate with the large horticultural shows and/or national magazines. As well, we have 2 site visits this summer that should be lots of fun.

Bus tours are continuing; this year; we will be traveling to unique and interesting destinations, both near and far. If you’ve never been on one of our trips, it's a delightful way to meet other Society members. As well, it’s a "hands-on", entertaining way of learning about horticulture and a pleasing way of viewing creative differences.

Speaking of creativity, we are continuing with our annual Spring flower competition and our Autumn photo contest. And everyone is welcome to participate by entering. Great prizes too.

"The Hort" is a wonderful way of meeting like-minded people, expanding your knowledge and developing your gardening talents. This Society gives you so much. Please consider returning the favour by volunteering in any way. We have an ambitious schedule so help is always welcome.
