The Thornhill Garden and Horticultural Society (TGHS) has a diverse membership of people who have a common interest in gardening and the greening of our homes and the community of Thornhill through horticultural activities.
The Society's primary goal is to promote the beautification of our community's private and public spaces.
Our objectives are met by
- planting and maintaining trees, plants, shrubs and flowers at several community locations
- monthly meetings and flower shows so our members can share ideas, broaden their gardening knowledge and havetheir gardening questions answered
- sponsoring community plant sales, garden recognition programmes for members and non-members
- other related activities
As a non-profit organization, we depend on our members' support and assistance with the various events held throughout each year.
Membership benefits include the above opportunities, monthly newsletter, discounts at many garden centres, our annual yearbook, and the chance to meet some great interesting people.
The Thornhill Garden and Horticultural Society was founded in 1914. While we celebrate our 99th year in 2013, we are eagerly looking forward to our Centennial Celebration in 2014. Various centenary projects are currently being planned.
