The Thornhill Garden & Horticultural Society is celebrating its 100th year in 2014. Our members are looking forward to celebrating our Centennial year. We will reflect on our history. We will celebrate our accomplishments. We will look to our future, to ensure the Hort's activities and programmes remain relevant and resourceful. We are proud to carry on the vision a few gardeners in Thornhill had in 1914 - that of a Hort Society which would promote, and contribute to, the beautification of our community. The Thornhill Garden & Horticultural Society's members have a common interest in gardening and the greening of our homes and community through horticultural activities. The Society promotes the beautification of Thornhill's public and private spaces by' >> Planting and maintaining trees , plants, shrubs and flowers at several community locations. >> Monthly meetings (held the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 8 pm at the Thornhill Community Centre) where our members can share ideas, broaden their gardening knowledge and find answers to their gardening questions. (A Guest speaker's presentation is given at each meeting.) >> Sponsoring community plant sales, garden recognition programmes and other related activities.
