About Us

Our Society was founded in 1923.  We have a thriving membership of 200+ members, both adult, senior and youth.  Our mandate is to encourage interest and improvement in horticulture in the community.  Every June we hold public plantings at the  city run Homes for the Aged, as well as Magnus Theatre and the Community Auditorium.  We have a  rose garden located at Lakehead University and a perennial bed located at the Thunder Bay Conservatory, both open for public viewing.

We have garden visits each July, viewing some of the most beautiful and original gardens our members and non-members have to offer.  This tour is open to members of our society only, so what an incentive to join.

Our chief fundraiser every year is our annual plant auction, held in May.  It is open to the public, and many of our members donate plants from their own gardens as well as plants they have started for this event.
