About Us

Streetsville Horticultural Society was re-established in 1972. The Society is in District 15 of the Ontario Horticultural Association. Horticultural societies are incorporated by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food as non-profit volunteer organizations to promote horticulture. The Society is governed by a Board of Directors. The Society has a constitution that establishes rules for the official name, roles and responsibilities of officers and directors, fiscal year, membership fees, prize money, awards and other pertinent business of the Society.

All members are encouraged to volunteer their time, skills, ideas and suggestions during the year as well as sharing their experience and knowledge of gardening. You can participate at meetings by serving on the Board of the Streetsville Horticultural Society (SHS), attending events and workshops, and helping out at our fundraising events.

There are many opportunities to volunteer at the meetings and volunteer positions are announced in our newsletter published monthly from September to June. Our newsletter is called “Streetsville Blooms.”
