Walter Cull was the first president of this third society. The following verse was suggested as a motto for the society: "Our town could be a garden but gardens are not made by saying 'Oh, how lovely' then sitting in the shade" The town and society adopted the petunia as their flower because it is affordable, accessible, and grows anywhere easily.
