Annual Garden Tour - July 8th, 2012
by Strathroy-Caradoc Horticultural Society

Garden enthusiasts turned out in record numbers on July 10 for the 17th annual Strathroy-Caradoc Horticultural Society (SCHS) garden tour and were treated to a stunning array of some of the best gardens that Strathroy-Caradoc has to offer.

Among the featured gardens this year, the tour included a memory garden, a large country retreat, a garden full of unique water features and artistry, a true Carolinian landscape and a provincially designated heritage garden property. Each was full of bright color, interesting plants and unique one-of-a-kind features.

The horticultural society was proud to have MacKinlay-Paul Park included in this year’s tour – one of the many community gardens that are planted and maintained by the society members.  MacKinlay-Paul has been part of the Strathroy-Caradoc landscape since 1871 and was so named to recognize the contributions of two former Strathroy Mayors, Campbell MacKinlay (1949-50), and Fred Paul (1951).

The quest for outstanding gardens for next year’s tour has already begun. Tour co-ordinator Kathy Pawitch is currently hard at work touring again, making early preparations to present us with another great line-up of gardens in July of 2012 – and we’re already looking forward to it!

If you are interested in sharing your garden in 2012, contact the horticultural society – and contact us any time for your growing or garden questions, our members will be glad to assist - inthegarden@live.ca
