Our society is dedicated to promoting the love of growing and enjoying roses.
Our members range from novice gardeners to experienced judges and exhibitors, all of whom are happy to talk about their favorite flower, the rose. With so many roses to choose from, it can be frustrating. Our members will share their knowledge, and help you find the perfect roses for your garden. Come to a meeting and let someone share their "love of roses" with you. We hope you will enjoy our site.
We meet at the Toronto Botanical Gardens.
The Toronto Botanical Gardens is located at the corner of Lawrence Ave. and Leslie Street, in Toronto.
We affiliated with the Canadian Rose Society, the Ontario Horticulture Association and the American Rose Society.
Meetings
Meetings this year are held on the following Sunday afternoons. Please note, the Toronto Botanical Gardens can be very busy and parking tight so we suggest you some early. If the lot is full, you can park, just south of the Botanical Gardens at the church and walk over.
March 7, 2010 Visit the beautiful gardens of British Columbia with Gloria Broks. A knowledgeable rosarian, Gloria will share gardens featured at the 2009 World Rose Federation Convention in Vancouver.
April 4, 2010 Rene Scchmitz. Owner of award winning Palatine Roses, he will talk about "Visions" - how a nurseryman sees the future of roses in this decade.
May 2, 2010 Getting your roses ready for the show. Not yet confirmed.
June 6, 2010 Peonies. Guest speaker Judi Denny will share her tips for growing peonies.
June 26, 27 Annual Rose, Horticulture and Design competition. Held at Shops on Steeles, on Steeles Ave., west of the 404 in Toronto.
Sunday July 4 - Wine and Roses Garden Tour of 2 gardens in the Bathurst, Wilson area. Refreshments included. Non-members welcome. Please e-mail for more details.
September 19, 2010 Special International Guest Speaker from Meilland Roses in France. The topic will be fragrance in roses. This event is free to GT Rose members. Non-Members $20. Seating will be limited, so if you need a ticket, please do not wait until the last minute.
October 3, 2010 We'll be presenting the show awards at this meeting with photographs of the winning roses and lots of discussion. Share the roses you loved or hated this season. This meeting will be one of our members' favorite formats.
November 21, 2010 Annual meeting with members photography presentations.
