 2011 Volunteer Hours by Lori Ray
The OHA asks each Horticultural Society to compile records of the hours spent by members in volunteer work to "Keep Ontario Beautiful". This information recognizes the value of the work done and is also helpful when requesting sponserships and applying for grants.
Activites for our club include:
- purchasing, preparing, planting and maintaining the barrels on main street and the many gardens in the village
- developing and managing the Junior Programme activities
- arraging for speakers, meeting activities, tours and picnics
- planning and organizing the flower shows
- maintaining membership, publicity, yearbook and website
- maintaining financial and secreatarial accounts
- writing reports, minues and applications for funding
- representing horticultural concerns and issues at municial level
- involvement in special projects and the network of other OHA activies
