People, plants, and pride growing together.

The Orillia Horticultural Society was founded on March 23, 1888. at a meeting in the Town Hall. Officers and Directors were elected. Closely associated with agriculture, the Society's early competitions included vegetables, fruit as well as flowers.

This was not surprising as most of the town residents would have had vegetables as well as small orchards in their garden.

The objective of the Society is to stimulate the advancement and interest of gardening,  development of home grounds, furthering civic beautification, aid in protection of forest, wildflowers, etc. 119 years later, with added enjoyment and educational objectives, we are still active in the promotion of horticultural activities in the community.

Interesting and informative guest speakers and workshops provide our members with the tools to assist them in the creation and activities in their own gardens.
