Winter Festive Planters by The Planters Committee
The Gatherers!!
The first weeks of November may have seemed like fall was here to stay, but the Horticultural Society took advantage of the beautiful weather to start decorating for winter!
On a cool, sunny November 2nd, a group of enthusiastic members went in search of greenery and accessories to use in this year’s winter planters. Two trailer loads later, it was determined that we did indeed have enough to work with. A big thank you to Eila & Roger Martin, Ruth and Achim Arndt, and Barb & Gerald MacGregor for allowing us to collect greenery on their properties. Also, thank you to the members who collected hydrangea blooms, sumac heads, galls and other dried accessories. If you have never been on one of these expeditions, do plan to join us next year! We have a great time!
Creativity At Work!
On the afternoon of November 4th, members of the Horticultural Society met again. This time the goal was to get creative! Two hours later, the main street planters had been transformed from fall to winter. Many pedestrians stopped to visit and admire our work. All had positive comments about the great work that we are doing in our effort to beautify the village. The main street was ready for Remembrance Day and the Olympic Torch Run through the village.
On December 1st, big red bows were added to the containers in preparation for Christmas and the Santa Claus Parade.
Thank you to the volunteers that helped with the collecting and the decorating. The village planters are ready for another winter season.
