Lake Simcoe South Shore Horticultural Society (Lake Simcoe Gardeners) was formed in February of 1973 by a meeting of interested members of the community. Annual membership fee was set at $1.00. It was decided to meet at the Sutton Library, then located on Sutton High Street. In 1979 meetings were moved to Sutton District High School. From there we moved to St. James Hall in Sutton in 1980. Finally, in 1994, we arrived at our present location, Keswick United Church. Our first official flower show was in May 1977 with 17 exhibitors and 80 entries. The size of our shows has grown over the years, and several trophies have been established by members of the society and donated by businesses in the community.
