Garden Tour Success

A big thank you to the Durham and area gardeners who generously opened their gardens for this year's tour and to everyone who made the tea such a pleasant experience. There was high praise for the excellent lunch served on Sat. The food was outstanding and the attention to details made it a popular spot to be. Co-ordinators Yvonne Gray and Evelyn Collins thank all those who helped out.

Durham is fortunate indeed to have so many beautiful gardens. This year's gardens included those of Mary and Vern Edwards , Ruth Edwards. Evelyn and Larry Hastie, Valerie and David Neal, Maureen and John McKnight, Melanie and Keith Grein, Jean and Ron Morris and Sheila and Bill Meestra.

The tour and tea was a success raising $640.00 for the society to help with community plantings. The gardens were quite wonderful yet we are always looking for new ones for future tours. If you have a suggestion for next year please let us know!

The Flower Show Returns

After several years without a flower show Durham and Dist. made a come-back.

Trish Black and Lucy Kalyniak, having completed the judging course last summer, were the organizers behind the show. A lot of help came from Linda Black.

There were a total of 11 categories and 126 entries. As the purpose was to encourage participation, prizes were for the most entries. Special mention should be made of Irene Neal and Marjorie Hewer who placed first in several categories.

The displays made a beautiful setting for the tea. Many visitors were surprised by the talent in our community. Next Year will be even better!
