Garden Tours by Malcolm Geast
One of the joys of gardening is sharing the results of our efforts with others. Here are two tours that are being held by horticultural societies in our District in September:
The Wild & Wonderful Gardens of East York Saturday, September 6, 2008 Noon to 5:00 p.m. Treat yourself to an afternoon of gardening pleasure as you tour 10 East York gardens. Included in this year's tour are perennial gardens, ravine gardens, and shade to full sun gardens. As well, you’ll see ponds, native perennials, annuals and some unusual whimsical items. The tour date is Saturday, September 6, running from noon to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 each, and are now available at three locations: Bill's Garden Centre at 903 Pape Avenue (on the east side, one block south of Mortimer) Peter's Paint & Paper at 1062 Coxwell Avenue (on the west side, near O'Connor) Grassroots at 372 Danforth Avenue (on the north side, a few stores west of Chester) For more information, click here.
Gardens by the Bluffs Sunday, September 7, 2008 Noon to 4:00 p.m. Scarborough Garden & Horticultural Society presents "Gardens of Scarborough" at $10 per person. Advance tickets $8. View unique gardens, meet the gardeners and find out their secrets to successful gardening. Following the tour and included in your ticket: enjoy refreshments at the Cornell/Campbell House (formerly Campbell Farm Estate). Located next to the Scarborough Village Community Centre. Tickets may be purchased on day of tour in the Community Centre parking lot. Click here for more information. (2008-08-18) |
