District 2 Show Rules

Any paid up member of any Society in District 2 may exhibit. (Please bring proof of membership.)

Only one adult per family may exhibit in any class, with the exception of the decorative classes.

If you belong to more than one Society, you must decide which Society you will represent and mark your tags accordingly.

One entry per class.

Decorative Classes in Division 2 will be limited to six entries per class and must be pre-registered with the show convener (see above) by April 1st 2008.

All material for Division 1 and 2 houseplants and specimens, Adult Open, Novice and classes 48 and 49 in the Youth competition MUST have been in the possession of the exhibitor for at least two months prior to Show. Material for the decorative classes may be obtained from any source, since it is the artistic ability of the designer which is important. Decorative wood, dried and/or treated material may be included. Accessories are permitted in all designs.

Judging will follow the "Ontario Judging and Exhibiting Standards" (Publication 34/2003) Please use it as a reference when preparing your exhibits. Education is one of the aims of this show, therefore kind and cultivar names should be added on entry tags when known.

The decision of the judge is final. No exhibit will be awarded a prize unless the judge considers it to have sufficient merit, even if it is the only entry in the class.

Due care will be taken with the exhibitor’s property, but the district will not be responsible for any loss or damage. Please mark the base of you decorative containers with your name and society.

Please bring your own containers for any cut specimens.

Potted entries should be shown in the pots in which they are growing - i.e. no cache pots. Please use a saucer under the potted exhibits as plants may need watering over the weekend. For any plants that may spread over the table you may use a clean upturned pot under the exhibit to raise it up.

There will be gift certificate and/or cash prizes in all classes.

Prizes will be given on Saturday April 19th at 1:00 pm.

The White Trillium
Trillium graceful. Trillium white,
Star of the woodland, Lady of light,
Lo, how she proudly
Stands in the glade,
Tri-sceptered sovereign,
Queen of the shade,
Stately she rises,
Slender-stemmed, tall,
Gracious response to Spring’s early call,
Lifting three leaf-arms
High from the sod,
Gazing with pure face lip at her god.

- Milena Matcska

The poem is to be submitted on a 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper in black ink or other suitable medium to produce black lettering along with black line drawing(s)

Some of the entries by Youth in this show could be entered into the OHA convention show in Brampton in August 2008.
