| May 24, 2012 | | | | Commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the War of 1812 | | Our society received a request from Tanya Zajac who is the Heritage & Culture Coordinator for Norfolk County. She is also on the Western Corridor Alliance War of 1812 Bicentennial Committee. She would like to encourage all members to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 by planting red Geraniums this year to honour those loyalists who died in the war. The red Geraniums do not have to be planted exclusively but a few in a garden would be wonderful. In Norfolk they are planning to have small plaques placed near the geraniums to explain their significance. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
