2009 Report
The year 2009 started with a fury of activity that included planning for the"Day of Horticulture featuring Dugald Cameron." The year featured speakers from The Town of LaSalle on the town tree scape program and protecting our natural areas; grasses, what's new in plants, container gardening, banding humming birds, dahlias, orchids and getting your garden ready for winter. May featured a very successful Plant Sale and June we had our Pot Luck Picnic. Our members worked with the kindergarten students at Sandwich West Public School in starting plants for Mothers Day and also with socially challenged students at St. Francis School in Windsor in developing and caring for School gardens and maintenance of the school grounds. Our very successful Day of Horticulture in October feature demonstrations on topiary, making hypertuffa containers, growing orchids, winterizing your garden, creating mosaic garden ornaments and Master Gardeners answering garden related questions as well as our featured speaker Dugald Cameron. We ended the year with our election of a new Board of Directors followed by a potluck supper.
