CANADA BLOOMS BUS TRIP, 2012 Vol. 2 by Jean Young
On a mild morning, twenty of us left the Legion at 7:30 am on the way to the 16th Canada Blooms Show. For the first time, it was partnered with the Home Show.
We had a very smooth trip, although we passed through thick fog on our way to Toronto. We had a fifteen minute pit stop just before arriving - a good idea as we were able to stretch our legs on the way to a long day.
We were welcomed on arrival at the Direct Energy Centre, and then proceeded into the hall. Orchids seemed very evident so I, for one, already had the day made! We had lunch while listening to Mark Cullen and Denis Flanagan as they reviewed the Show's highlights from the Celebrity State, presented by HGTV. This year, for the first time, the International Garden of Taipei was present. the flowers, as usual, were awesome and in the Green Zone, the living walls and green roofs were striking.
Market Place, as usual, was doing a great business. My order has already been delivered, three days later! Later, we listened to Ken Beattie, now retired, who, as usual, was a mine of information.
Mid-afternoon, we assembled in the comfortable bus groups arrival/departure lounge. With a great driver, we had an uneventful trip home. We were still amazed that despite the wonderful weather, it still wasn't the end of March!
Next year maybe?
