EARTH DAY 2012 - CLEAN-UP AT THE ARBORETUM 

   

We invite you to join our group of gardening advocates, providing leadership, promoting interest and education in gardening, horticulture and environmental issues.  

To become a member, download and complete the Mail-in Membership Enrolment Form.  Annual Membership fee is $15.00, and for Family $25.00 (at same address) (October 1st to September 30th) Memberships are available at our Welcome Centre Table at our Monthly Membership Meetings (except July and December) or mail cheque to Box 618, Collingwood, On L9Y 4E8.

MAY 22, 23         Deliver Plants to 492 Hurontario Street for Plant Sale,  10:00 to 4:00 pm 

MAY 24               40th Anniversary Celebration @ 7:00  pm,

JULY 4                Field Trip to Trish Symon's Garden in Hockley Valley and Plant Paradise.

  The Collingwood Horticultural Society is a busy one, we are steadily growing & remaining very active in the community.   

~~   TAKE A LOOK   ~~ 

Arboretum, Care and Nurturing, Earth Day Celebrations - Clean-Up - public participation encouraged.  Start when you want, for as long as you want.  Physical labour not your thing--bring treats for those who are "raking away".

Civic Beautification, Many hands make light work -Planning, planting, watering and maintenance of our public spaces, grooming of sites and plant care.  Take pride in our community gardens, you don't have to be an expert, just interested in what we do.

Plant Sale, On May 26th 2012, we are once again holding our very successful Plant Sale at the Arboretum featuring:  hostas, annuals, perennials, cannas, vegetables (tomato seedlings etc.) corms/tubers, ground cover, shrubs and grasses.  Plant donations, comments, questions & or suggestions always welcomed. " A great way to get to know us is by volunteering for this activity "

Summer Rose and Flower Show-Judged, June 28, 2012  Of course, what would a Society be without it's Summer Rose and Flower Show.  This event is held in Hunter Hall (Trinity Church) in the early evening.  Viewing is free and is open to the public.  Come on out and see what we do.  Everyone is very excited at this event and it's an opportunity to meet new people or join old friends.  According to the judges we are getting better and better.   

Fall Flower/Vegetable Show-Judged, September 7, 2012, Noon.  The show is held in Hunter Hall (Trinity Church) and includes a Tea Room and Bake Sale.

Whether you are a knowledgable gardener or just plain interested in what a garden club does.  Whether you are young, middle-aged, or just aged, come on out, share your unique talent, trade or skill with our group.  All skill levels are welcomed.   We need:  labourers, managers, creative souls, organizers & adventurers. 

We are always looking for volunteers for this activity the day before or on the day of the show (no experience necessary).

Publicity & Advertising, Suggestions welcomed, Ideas, Sponsorships, Events

Bus Trips -  CANADA BLOOMS, including the Home Show, bus trip this year was on Monday, March 19, 2012 - a full program of stunning fully landscaped gardens, floral displays of Ontario's top florists, floral competition featuring international competitors, shopping at the Blooms Marketplace, seminars with well known speakers and much more.  Consider joining the group for 2013.  

Many other committees are awaiting your support.  Just come for a visit or join up and make some new friends.
