Flower Shows

Purpose:  “To encourage the interest in creating pleasing decorative arrangements and in growing indoor and outdoor plants, and vegetables to exhibit in our Flower Shows.”

In 2017, the traditional and well-know Flower Show of designs and cut-specimen from members' gardens underwent a major overhaul to keep up with members current wishes. Effective in May 2017, the floral designs were substituted for  cut-specimen. No longer a formally judged show, but simply a showcase of flowers and branches from our gardens, without rules.

A floral design can be described as a creation of pleasing decorative arrangement made of fresh and/or dried material, such as flowers, foliages, fruits, and vegetables, and with or without accessories, within a specified space.

A cultural is a cut-specimen grown by the exhibitor, or a potted plant that has been in the possession and care of the exhibitor for at least two months prior to the show.

All members, novice and experienced, are invited and encouraged to participate.  It is a great way to learn from other more experienced participants, and a way to share your love for flowers and plants.

You may also offer to help set up the monthly shows.  Just another opportunity to learn about plants.
