Campbellford & District Horticultural Society
Monthly Meetings
- Our Society has Monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month at Christ Church Anglican, Campbellford at 7:30 pm except January. Everyone is welcome.
- Membership is $12.00 a year.
- We have a different speaker each month with a variety of topics. We also have a mini flower show each month where members can bring in their creations to test their skills. There are new categories each month. We judge the mini show according to the Ontario Judging and Exhibiting Standards Book.
- In July we host a Garden Tour the second Saturday of the month. In August we hold a Garden Party at a members home.
- The society donates money for the purchase of flowers at the Hospital each year.
- The Horticultural Society also is involved with the Communities in Bloom project to beautify Trent Hills and reentered in 2009 and were successful in obtaining 5 BLOOMS.
- We also have a Pumpkin Contest the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. The categories are Largest, Carved, Painted and or Decorated. There are also categories for Best Tasting Pumpkin Pie, Heaviest Zucchini, Largest Sunflower Head, Best Ornamental Gourd and Most Edible Squash.
- We hold two plant sales a year at the Bank of Montreal corner in Campbellford. The spring sale is the Saturday of the long weekend in May and the fall sale is the third Saturday of September.
- We also maintain three local flower beds. They are at the Resource Centre, Picnic Island Park and the town Entranceway.
