Meetings

All meetings start at 7.30pm and are held at the Cheltenham Firehall, 14190 Credit View Rd. Unless otherwise noted.

Please consider bringing a guest to any meeting. They are always welcome.

Thursday, February 9th. - Dave Naylor will present an “Introduction to Cacti & Other Succulents”. Over 100 slides help us learn about this interesting topic. David is a well known speaker, both locally and internationally.

Thursday, March 8th - Lorraine and Rob Roberts, from Plant Paradise Country Gardens, a unique organic perennial nursery on Humber Station Rd, will talk about getting the most from your garden with “continuous blooms throughout the season”.

Thursday, April 12th. Learn more about bearded Iris from Ann & Bob Granatier of Trail’s End Iris Farm. 4-6” Plants may be available for purchase, weather permitting.

Thursday, May 10th. 6-7pm Plant exchange. (bring a plant/take a plant) 7.30pm Entertaining and humourous garden club speaker Trish Symmons will present “Xeriscaping, aka water wise landscaping”.

Thursday, June 14h. Want to learn more about lilacs, like how many colours and varieties there are? Bruce Peart, Past Curator of the Royal Botanical Garden in Burlington has many interesting and detailed photos.

Thursday, September 13th. Need some help getting the best of your roses? Shari-Lyn Safir, Past President of the Toronto Rose Society and Vice President of the North American Rose Association will offer techniques and organic recipes. Annual membership due.

Thursday, October 11th. Local resident Dr. Win Mellor-Hay will be judging floral entries in the 2012 “Design Challenge”. Bring your completed Thanksgiving table decoration (max overall size of 12”) for 7pm. If there’s time there will be discussions on “flowering houseplants to get us through the winter”.

Thursday, November 8h. Looking for new ideas for winter urns and wreaths? Marcia from Glen Echo Nurseries, will let us into some trade secrets. Thursday, December 13th. Participate in our annual workshop. After the AGM / Elections, use your decorative talents to complete Christmas topiary. Most materials provided.
