The Blenheim-Harwich Horticultural Society held a field trip to a local Lavender Farm in Harwich Township, Monday July 21, 2009. Approximately 20 members rambled through the fragrant shrubs of different cultivars of lavender.
As the group relaxed among the melodic humming of the friendly bees, our two tour guides relayed the history of their 5 year business which you could clearly see they were very proud of.
We were shown the 'distilling' process of how they turn flower buds into oils, essences, lotions, soaps and several other products.
By the end of the 1 hour tour, the members were invited to sample and purchase some of the products, and even go out and harvest their own bunches of fresh lavender.
Everyone was totally relaxed at the end of the tour and great comments were handed out.
