Plant Market - A Success Story by Paul Schneider
Plant Market - A Success
This year’s Plant Market of May 8 turned into a successful event for our organization. We invited vendors with different merchandise to participate so we could offer an interesting choice for our customers. Although the weather threatened rain, the event was to happen come rain or shine. It turns out the real culprit was the cold wind that didn’t let up. But our volunteers and the vendors stayed and toughed it out and in the end we had a successful sale. The organizing committee wants to extend a big thank you to all who helped by manning the booths, preparing and transporting our plants or donating plants for the sale and of course, the cashiers. All are necessary functions to help the cause. We raised enough money to carry on with our program of planting public gardens, providing two bursaries for our local High Schools and providing a plant workshop and library book for some grade schools of our district. I believe we can be very proud of our contribution to the beautification and enrichment of our town. Already the committee is meeting to review the Plant Market and lay the foundation for the event in 2011!
Again I would like to thank all who helped in working for the Horticultural Society.
