GARDEN TOUR Report Sept 2010

On Sunday, September 12th, 2010 the Bolton & District Horticultural Society held its 14th annual garden tour featuring 10 local gardens.  Below is a brief overview of the 10 gardens on the tour:

Green Acres (PLANT SALE LOCATION)
This charming farmhouse is classed as a heritage site built originally in 1840. This garden has been exquisitely designed around the home with side gardens, a small seasonal stream, haywagon filled with petunias, shady resting places, mature trees and open fields of waving wheat. 

Artist at Work
Lovely treed property featuring hostas, shrubs, deck and arbour for relaxing.  Property shows off the wood carving  talents in the unique statuary in the gardens.  Demonstrations given at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Small Surprises
The owners  have created a perennial garden in front with a mossy path, relaxing veranda and the backyard has a small vegetable patch, flowering shrubs, Japanese maples and the sound of water in the wishing well. 

Peace in the Valley
Tucked away in this hilly property is a lush vegetable patch, a tinkling waterfall, annuals and ornaments planted on a shady patio, mature trees, Japanese maples in the well designed front yard, rocks and mature trees.

Flower Power 
This new home welcomes you with a variety of flowers and shrubs, a small waterfeature and patio in the backyard along with more perennials and annuals make this suburban residence an inviting plact to visit.

Water Wonderland
This country garden features a large pond with an island and huge colourful koi.  There is also a gazebo, huge tree trunk sculpture, rocks, hostas, shrubs, variety of sedums and perennials.  

On Stage
A colourful garden filled with blue spruce, cedars, hostas, perennials and annuals with details such as statuary, a water feature with stepping stones and new gardens. 
 
Tranquility
This property has been taken from a farmer’s field to a peaceful oasis featuring  flowering shrubs, fruit trees, rockery containing alpines, wild flowers, annuals, perennials and a raised vegetable bed.

Take A Look
This lovely garden backs onto a forested area filled with perennials, Japanese maples and a gazebo.

Apple Orchard
The owner has kindly offered his well kept fruit orchard and the gardens surrounding the home and inviting pool for viewing.
