Ayr Hort members Visit "rare" Reserve
by Paul Arrowsmith

A small but dedicated group of Ayr Hort members braved the blustery winds Monday night to visit the unique "rare" property in the village of Blair. Larry Lamb and Matt Crooks provided us with a short tour of the water garden and other outdoor projects near the field office. Pat Leather gave us an in depth background on the history of the almost 1000 acre site and its current status as a charitable reserve. With coffee and treats we watched slides while Larry Lamb showed us the amazing wildlife flowers which are unique to the "rare" property. There are three natural creeks, limestone rock formations along the Grand River and many other fascinating aspects to the largerst urban landspace in Canada. Please note there are many opportunities to visit, tour for adults and children. Visit  www.raresites.org for more info(2009-09-30)
