The Society conducts a substantial Trillium Awards programme in the community which encourages all home owners to beautify their properties.

Since its inception in 1983, an elaborate scheme for judging properties by volunteers from the Society resulted in the presentation of Trillium Awards each year in partnership with the Town (now City of Hamilton). The awards are cumulative, and the records are maintained in a data base which includes over 600 properties in the community.

The Trillium Awards programme has a huge economic effect on the community. Home-owners are responding positively to the programme through purchasing plants, soil amendments, fertilizers, pesticides and garden equipment, to improve the beauty of their properties. In excess of $250,000 annually is a guesstimate of home-owner/renter purchases.
