About Us

The Ancaster Horticultural Society was established in 1961 and boasts a healthy membership of over 200 devoted gardeners.

Our meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month (except July, August, and December) commencing at 7:30 p.m. with a social half-hour and our meeting starting at 8:00 p.m., at the Ancaster Old Town Hall.

The Ancaster Horticultural Society has contributed to the Ancaster community since its inception in 1961. The Society's mission is to "Beautify Ancaster". The Society has maintained a membership roster of over 200 people for the past decade, contributing over 3500 volunteer hours annually to the community.

Monthly meetings are held at the Old Town Hall to which the public is invited to learn about gardening, horticulture and environmentally-related subjects. Such content as urban renewal, and insects and their importance in the biosphere are included in addition to more traditional topics, such as bonsai, herbs, and container gardening.  All presenters are highly qualified in their areas of expertise, and many of them are lecturers from the Royal Botanical Gardens or university experts.

Your web-site contact for the Ancaster Horticultural Society is:  Dorothy Macintyre who can be reached through ancaster@gardenontario.org.
